The new headquarters of Casa FOA in Buenos Aires: the return to Barracas with Palacio Molina
• Casa FOA defines its 2026 roadmap with a commitment that redoubles its federal and patrimonial DNA. After 14 years of that monumental FOA House, in Molina Ciudad (the real estate project located just across the street, also designed by the Dujovne-Hirsch studio), the architecture, design and landscaping exhibition returns to Barracas.
And not only that: it once again partners with GES Desarrollos to begin showing the transformation of a property that also belonged to the Alpargatas factory. Thus, the headquarters of the 42nd Buenos Aires edition will take place in the development named Palacio Molina, in honor again of the plastic artist Florencio Molina Campos (author of the images of the remembered Alpargatas almanacs).Palacio Molina seems to us to be a headquarters very aligned with the principles of the exhibition, given that it has history and a lot of architecture to discover, said Marcos Malbrán, director of Casa FOA, at the official launch yesterday. From the point of view Architecturally, the origin of this building responded to a functional logic: exposed brick, a resistant structure and large windows. An industrial design from the late 19th century, completed Juan Blas Fernández, director and manager of Casa FOA. Innovation and preservation in the south For the director of Casa FOA, the return to this location occurs naturally thanks to a developer who understands that the exhibition helps make his project visible: He puts an incandescent light spotlight on the properties where we develop the exhibition. And he adds: As we had already done with Molina Ciudad, this project was the perfect match to return to. He (by Fernando Barenboim) has a conservationist spirit that goes hand in hand with our pillars. Thus, the Buenos Aires exhibition will propose a tour of more than 5,700 m2 and will present 35 spaces to be intervened by architects, interior designers and landscapers. Each environment will be an experience of materials, color palettes, textures and solutions marked by innovation. The themes that will be addressed include kitchens, living rooms, dressing rooms and bathrooms, bedrooms, playrooms and wellness spaces, explained Catalina Ulloa, an architect who is part of the Casa FOA team. Córdoba: consolidation in PocitoThe activity does not wait until October. This coming week, the capital of Córdoba opens its fourth federal edition at Pocito Social Life, in the Nueva Córdoba neighborhood. The choice of site is not random: it is a return to the area where the exhibition already stood two years ago, consolidating the square as a strategic territory. Juan Blas Fernández anticipated that this new instance will take place in an independent building that has its own entrances and lobbies, functioning as a continuation of what was presented in 2024. Thus, the Córdoba exhibition is spread over 4,400 m2 and has 35 spaces larger than generous. As he explained, the selection criteria sought a balance between historical professionals and new generations of designers to show the current trend without losing the rigor of the regional trajectory, attracting studios from Rosario, Santa Fe and Tucumán, as well as from Córdoba. The curatorial axis is based on four slogans: design from the authentic, redesign the essential, tradition in the continuous present and inhabit the transformation. Under concepts such as Redesigning the essential and Tradition in present continuous. These premises invite us to think about design as a constant process: materials that mutate, spaces that adapt and contemporary uses that respond to the way of living today. “It is not about nostalgia or repeating what is known, but about giving continuity, about allowing what exists to evolve and transform into new ways of living the space,” suggests the federal voice of Casa FOA. In both settings and in different ways, in Palacio Molina and in Pocito Social Life, the design shows its transformative power, uniting what was with what will be.
