WHY IS METALWORKERS DAY CELEBRATED ON SEPTEMBER 7?
Metallurgists Day was established around the life of Fray Luís Beltrán, who was born on September 7, 1784 in the province of Mendoza and quickly became one of the first people to possess the countrys mineral wealth.
He understood that Argentina could provide very valuable services in that area and at the same time fight for the long-sought independence since the manufacture of rifles and cannons would be favored. The Metallurgical Workers Union (UOM) wrote on its official website. "Once again we renew our commitment to work for the sustainable development of the national industry, the generation of formal employment, the defense of the purchasing power of our salaries and to fight with all workers to definitively achieve a Free, Fair and Sovereign Homeland. Comrades, Happy day!!"
