With more than 89% of Brazilian pine, the southern forestry sector drives the innovation and business agenda at Lignum Latin America 2026
From September 15 to 17, the Expotrade Convention Center in Curitiba will bring together more than 130 exhibiting companies from seven countries. Within the framework of the exhibition organized by the Malinosvki Group, the International Wood Week (SIM 2026) will be held, which will bring together global experts in logistics, genetics, and wood technologies.
The southern region of Brazil has exceptional climatic and soil conditions that, combined with high technology and advanced forest management, guarantee pine growth rates that are among the highest in the world. This performance allows shorter production cycles and the obtaining of wood with ideal characteristics for multiple industrial applications. The statistical panorama of the sector in Brazil shows the scale of this activity: Total planted forests: Brazil has approximately 10 million hectares of cultivated forests. Pine surface: Around 1.9 million hectares are dedicated specifically to pine cultivation. Regional concentration: More than 89% of the national pine surface is located in the southern states (Paraná, Santa Catarina and Rio Grande do Sul). Industrial destination: This resource base supports the production of millions of cubic meters of wood to supply the segments of pulp and paper, reconstituted panels, sawn wood, sheets, biomass and export products. During the development of the fair, the ASBR will have stand R19 as a meeting point for entrepreneurs, investors, professionals, researchers and academics interested in establishing contacts and discussing the prospects of the plantation timber industry. Within this framework, the President of the ASBR, José Mario Ferreira, highlighted that Lignum Latin America constitutes the favorable scenario to demonstrate the strength of regional forestry as an engine of sustainable economic development, job creation and decarbonization. Likewise, the manager confirmed that in the context of the International Wood Week the entity will hold a new edition of the Pinus Conecta forum on September 15 and 16, a space focused on analyzing technological advances, innovations and the challenges of the coniferous market. The participation of the ASBR in Lignum Latin America 2026 consolidates the integration of the regional forestry-industrial sector around a highly efficient production model committed to sustainability. For the actors in the wood chain of the region, the event at stand R19 and at the Pinus Conecta forum on September 15 and 16 represents an unbeatable opportunity to exchange knowledge, establish business alliances and take an active part in the debates that will define the future of the activity in Latin America.
