Wood is positioned as the new standard of comfort to win the market of demanding travelers

There are hotels that are forgotten as soon as you check out and others that remain in your memory long after the trip has ended. In a market where the modern traveler is no longer looking just for a place to sleep but for a comprehensive experience, the perception of space has become a determining factor. In this search for comfort, authenticity and well-being, wood resumes a strategic role in interior architecture and hotel equipment.
From September 2 to 4, 2026, the Argentine Federation of the Wood and Related Industries (FAIMA) will be present at Hotelga 2026, the major event for the sector that will take place in La Rural in Buenos Aires and which plans to attract some 230 exhibitors and 13,000 professional visitors. The entity seeks to build a direct bridge between the forest-industrial chain and the tourism and gastronomy industries. For years, the inclusion of wood in hotel infrastructure was fundamentally linked to environmental sustainability criteria. Although that pillar remains intact, the current conversation incorporates neuroarchitecture and biophilic design: the integration of elements of nature to improve peoples emotional and physical well-being. Likewise, natural materials strengthen the positive emotional memory of the guest, a key asset in the reputation of the establishment. Tourism and hospitality represent a huge opportunity for the entire Argentine forest-industrial chain. Our goal is to build a common agenda with a sector that shares our priorities: sustainability, innovation, design, identity and quality. Wood has a lot to contribute on this path, highlights Pablo Bercovich, advisor to FAIMAs Argentine Furniture Institute (IMA). Innovation and value addition: the Argentine Furniture Laboratory FAIMAs participation in Hotelga will not be limited to exhibiting isolated furniture, but rather to show the technical capacity of the entire value chain, from industrialized wood construction systems to the design of custom-made equipment. A selection of developed prototypes will be exhibited in the federations institutional space. by the Argentine Furniture Laboratory, a joint initiative between FAIMA and the IMA that articulates the work between independent designers and industrial plants throughout the country. The rapprochement between the hotel industry and the wood industry opens a direct marketing window for hundreds of small and medium-sized Argentine companies grouped in the 28 territorial chambers of FAIMA. The demand for renovation of hotel beds with criteria of low environmental impact and high durability offers a growth niche for nationally manufactured equipment. Hospitality is changing and wood has all the conditions to accompany this transformation. It combines design, comfort, identity, innovation and sustainability. It is an opportunity to continue positioning the Argentine industry in new markets and generate more value for the entire chain, concludes Bercovich.
