Advanced Production Technologies for High-Quality Furniture Surfaces: Practical Insights Based on Case Studies

2026-05-26
Bielefeld, May 21, 2026 – At this year’s Surface in Motion (SIM) in Bergamo, Italy, Dr. René Pankoke, Managing Partner of Hymmen, will present on June 4, 2026, the production technologies his company develops for the furniture industry.
On June 4 and 5, 2026, the B2B industry network möbelfertigung, in cooperation with interzum fo
rum Italy, will host the Surface in Motion Italia in Bergamo for the second time. The congress is
aimed at the wood-based materials industry, users, furniture manufacturers, interior designers, and
upstream suppliers. Join industry experts as they exchange insights on highly actual topics such as
design, technologies, and trends.
Hymmen contributes to furniture manufacturing with advanced production technologies for high
quality furniture surfaces. Using practical case studies, Dr. René Pankoke (see Fig. 1) will clearly
illustrate the respective advantages in his conference presentation.
The first case study focuses on the British kitchen manufacturer Wren Kitchens, which applies
Hymmen’s Calender Coating Inert (CCI) technology to achieve either a high-gloss or super-matt
finish on its kitchen surfaces (see Fig. 2). In the second case study, Pankoke explains the effi
ciency benefits of double-belt press technology to produce kitchen worktops at Egger in Poland
(see Fig. 3).
Alternatively, manufacturers also use laminating lines for worktop production. However, these are
primarily employed for surface coating and edge wrapping of furniture panels, or for coating furni
ture back panels (see Fig. 4). Finally, insights into Hymmen’s digital printing technology for furni
ture manufacturers are not to be missed. The digital décor and structure printing solutions from
Hymmen offer impressive new design possibilities with maximum flexibility and cost efficiency. The
patented and field-proven Digital Lacquer Embossing (DLEplus) can be integrated either down
stream of Hymmen’s own JUPITER series single-pass digital décor printers or following a multi
pass printer. Integration into a liquid coating line is also possible (see Fig. 5).
Surface in Motion is part of interzum forum Italy and is open to all trade fair visitors free of charge.
The event will be simultaneously translated into Italian and English, with Italian as the main confer
ence language. Attendees can look forward to high-caliber speakers and top-level networking opportunities. In addition to the conference program, sponsors and speakers are invited by the or ganizers to a networking dinner on the evening of the first conference day at a first-class restaurant in Bergamo. Join Dr. René Pankoke on the first day of the conference (June 4, 2026) at 4:00 PM, when he will present practical insights from case studies on production technologies for furniture manufacturing.
