On a night marked by emotion, culture and environmental commitment, the Faculty of Forestry Sciences of the National University of Santiago del Estero carried out the Concert for Forests and Peace with great attendance, an event that brought together more than 200 people in the auditorium of the Botanical Garden Building Complex.
The artistic proposal was led by the Friends of Music Ensemble Orchestra, which offered an outstanding repertoire of chamber music with works by great composers, performed by the musicians Luciano Medina Carfí, Martín Thren, Lautaro Coronel, Eduardo Aguirre, Matías Cejas, Analía Griffa, Facundo Luna, Ernesto Medina, Leonardo Gutiérrez and Ricardo Cianferoni. The meeting was attended by academic and institutional authorities, including the dean of the College of Forestry, Dr. Nancy Giannuzzo; Vice Dean Dr. Miguel Sarmiento; and the vice-rector of the UNSE, Dr. Fernanda Mellano. Also participating were the Minister of Production, Eng. Néstor Machado; the director of Forests, Dr. Noelia Zanichelli; the director of Environment, Eng. Isabel Brandan; the rector of the Catholic University of Santiago del Estero, Eng. Luis Lucena; Dr. José Antonio Musso, general coordinator of the Federal Network of Studies on the Human Right to Peace (ReFEPAZ); and the auxiliary bishop of the Archdiocese of Santiago del Estero, Mons. Enrique Martínez Ossola, along with teachers, students and the general public. From the Faculty, they especially highlighted the contribution of Dr. Martín Thren in the creation and realization of this cultural proposal, which managed to articulate art and environmental awareness in the same space. During the evening, Dana Rodríguez, member of the Youth Forum for Culture of Peace, shared a text alluding to forests and peace, generating a moment of reflection collective in tune with the spirit of the meeting. In the interval, attendees enjoyed a tasting of carob coffee and products derived from the forest, with the accompaniment of local businesses and organizations such as Oro del Estero, Cooperativa Agronaciente, the producer Nancy Campos and the Giuseppe Tovini School. The Concert for Forests and Peace thus left a significant mark as a meeting space between the community, culture and the environment, promoting reflection on the value of forests and the construction of a more conscious and committed society.
