In line with global trends that promote sustainable construction and the responsible use of forest resources, PEFC Spain inaugurated this Friday in Madrid a new space conceived as a meeting point, a showroom for certified products and a visibility platform for companies committed to sustainable forest management.
Located in the Chamberí neighborhood, the space was designed to showcase how aesthetics, the functionality of environments and sustainability can be integrated into real projects of interior architecture and construction with wood. The inauguration was attended by the president of PEFC Spain, Francisco Carreño, and the general director Ana Belén Noriega, along with special guests and representatives of collaborating companies in the forestry and design sector. The event was also part of the Madrid Design Festival programming, which allowed the proposal to be integrated into the innovation and design circuit that brings together each year to professionals from different creative disciplines.The design of the space was developed by the studio of architect Martin Majan, with a proposal that integrates contemporary design, functionality of the environments and visibility for certified brandsA showcase for sustainabilityAs explained at the inauguration, the new environment was conceived as a collaborative and demonstrative space, where products certified in origin are the protagonists.The initiative seeks to tangibly show the potential of wood and other materials of sustainable forest origin in real applications of interior design and construction.In addition institutional office, the space functions as a sustainability showroom, designed to receive companies, professionals, architects, designers and actors linked to the forestry chain interested in learning about certified and traceable solutions. The project also constitutes an example of a project certified under the PEFC system, since it was developed using materials from sustainable sources and products supplied by companies with Chain of Custody certification. In this way, each constructive and decorative component guarantees traceability, legality and environmental commitment.
