COP29 in Baku | FAO organizes virtual event on sustainable forest bioeconomy for mitigation and adaptation to climate emergency
Within the framework of the COP29 of climate change in Baku, the United Nations Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) will lead a virtual event focused on sustainable forest bioeconomy as a key tool for mitigation and adaptation to climate change.
The activity will take place this Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., from the forest pavilion in the blue zone. The public will be able to follow the live broadcast through the YouTube channel of a DISE. Revert deforestation and forest degradation by 2030. Elegant, ecological and resistant: the wood treated with the millenary technique called Yakisugi challenges the weather and the passage of time. In the world of design and construction, a Japanese ancestral technique is gaining prominence. This is the Yakisugi (also known as Shou Sugi Ban), a method that consists in burning the surface of the wood to make it more resistant and attractive. Although it may seem contradictory, exposing wood to fire gives natural protection against moisture, insects and deterioration over time.
