IUFRO 2024 | La Red de Restauracion de la Costa Sur de Guatemala tuvo protagonismo en el congreso internacional
El Centro de Convenciones y Exhibiciones de Estocolmo, en Suecia, fue el escenario del XXVI Congreso Mundial de la Union Internacional de Organizaciones de Investigacion Forestal (IUFRO), uno de los eventos cientifico-academicos mas relevantes a nivel internacional en el ambito forestal, que se realiza cada cinco anos en diferentes paises del mundo.
El Congreso Mundial IUFRO 2024 cuenta con
la participacion de mas de 4.000 personas, y el Instituto Privado de
Investigacion sobre Cambio Climatico,ICC, fue invitado a presentar la Red de
Restauracion de la Costa Sur de Guatemala, la cual es una alianza conformada
por instituciones gubernamentales, organizaciones no gubernamentales, empresas
privadas, gobiernos locales, comunidades e instituciones academicas, que es
liderada por el ICC y el Instituto Nacional de Bosques, INAB.
Durante la presentacion, se destaco la
importancia que tiene la vinculacion de los diferentes sectores de la sociedad
para hacer posibles las acciones de restauracion.
Ademas, se presentaron los principales resultados que la
Red ha tenido en materia de restauracion de bosque de ribera y ecosistemas
manglares desde su creacion en 2016, y se resalto la importancia de la
participacion de las mujeres en el establecimiento de viveros forestales para
la produccion de arboles con alta importancia ecologica.
En 2023, con el objetivo de promover la
investigacion forestal, el intercambio de conocimientos y el desarrollo de
soluciones basadas en la ciencia para el beneficio de los bosques y las
personas en todo el mundo, el ICC se convirtio en miembro de la IUFRO.
Esta red mundial de cooperacion en ciencia forestal reune
a mas de 15.000 cientificos de casi 700 organizaciones miembros en mas de 110
paises.
El ICC es una de las unicas dos instituciones
guatemaltecas que forman parte de esta red internacional, con quienes ya se ha
colaborado anteriormente en diferentes proyectos, tal es el caso del capitulo
GLFx Costa Sur Guatemala, un espacio del Foro Global Paisajes GLF, que promueve
la restauracion del paisaje forestal a nivel internacional y en donde
precisamente se divulgan las acciones de restauracion de la Red.

Experts in Forest Health of the South Cone will issue an update course on pests and diseases in plantations and collaborative strategies in the region
The 4 -day meeting, with workshops, talks and field days is organized by the Southern Cone Forestry Group (GSFCS). The event will bring together experts from Chile, Brazil, Uruguay and Argentina and is intended for agronomist and forestry engineers, biologists, private and public technicians, and all interested in the problem. They seek to address from the prevention and health control of forest resources, focusing on the exchange of information for risk management and management strategies at different scales.
