APICOFOM plans to build a wooden building to promote the benefits of the material, its resistance and architectural adaptation

The process for the project began with training given by Brazilian professionals specialized in wood construction from the firm KATA OFFSITE. The activity is part of the actions that the entity carries out to promote and consolidate innovation in the use of this raw material.

The timber businessman Pedro López Vinader and secretary of the Association of Forest Producers, Industrialists and Traders of Misiones and Corrientes (APICOFOM), referred to the project they have in the pipeline, to build and install a structural building of between 3 and 5 floors completely in wood, in a very visible space in the city of Posadas, with the aim of showing the potential of the industry and the raw material, its benefits in favor of caring for the environment, the speed and agility of this construction system, and its adaptation to designs and architecture.
In addition, they seek that the emblematic work allows to expose "the architectural attractiveness that represents the addition of design and the use of advanced technologies at a world level like the one we have in Misiones."
“This meeting point will also allow us to carry out awareness campaigns, consolidate the positioning that Misiones has in this area at the country level, add another point of tourist and professional attraction, and showcase the potential of our companies and the tens of thousands of people who make up the industrial forest family of the region,” remarked the businessman.
In this framework, they invited the Brazilian founders of the KATA OFFSITE firm, Ramón Pollnow and Frederico Oliveira, with extensive experience in construction technologies, production systems and product development for external modular construction.
The activity organized by APICOFOM is part of the actions that the entity carries out to promote and consolidate innovation in the use of this raw material.
During the talk, they provided details about their work and specificity, and the public policies carried out by different States in Brazil to promote the virtuous combination of the forestry industry and housing production.
The delegation was made up of Ramon Pollnow (Civil and Industrial Wood Engineer); Frederico Oliveira (Wood Industrial Engineer and Production Engineering Specialist); and Felipe Biffi (Civil Engineer and BIM Project Management Specialist).
On behalf of APICOFOM, Secretary Pedro López Vinader, architects and technicians from companies dedicated to the field, related professionals, Gregorio López Moreno (representing the EVOECO firm), and institutional manager Cristina Ryndycz participated.
In previous days, the Brazilians toured the industrialized wood housing factory - located in the city of Posadas - together with IPRODHA technicians, and held a working meeting with the partners of that plant.
“Brazil promotes the forest-based industry”
During his presentation, Ramón Pollnow provided numerous details related to the beginnings of the company and the background that all its members have in the matter, examples of construction with wood in single and multi-family homes, multi-story buildings and shopping centers; and he spoke about state policies to promote the construction of social housing that is highly required to satisfy current and future demand.
They highlighted that “the technology we saw in the housing factory located in Posadas is state-of-the-art, European level without a doubt and superior to what we have in Brazil at the moment, and has a high development potential.”
He also cited that the State of São Paulo, faced with the floods and landslides recorded a few months ago, required 500 homes to allocate to the affected families, and chose the wooden construction system because it represents the fastest and most efficient solution, among other positive benefits. . “The delivery of these units, which represent an urgent need for these families, are in the final stage of their production and subsequent installation.”

They stressed that, based on numerous research and experiences in the most developed countries on the subject, “building with wood represents many favorable actions with the environment and energy efficiency, and has high industrial rates in productivity, performance, costs and speed of answer".
