Extension of submission of abstracts to forestry events

The Organizing Committee of IUFRO LA-2023 has extended the deadline for the submission of abstracts to the event until June 30. More information and link to the presentation at
The event will address Sustainable Landscape Management - the role of forests, trees, agroforestry systems and their interactions with agriculture - and abstracts can be submitted on the following themes and sub-themes:
THEME 1 - Integration of native or planted forests with agriculture and other land uses at the landscape level
Sub-theme 1.1 – Sustainable forest mosaics in the landscape
Sub-theme 1.2 – Sustainable forest management in micro-watersheds, including regulation of water flow, ecological corridors and biodiversity indicators
THEME 2 – Sustainable use of forests and agriculture on rural property
Sub-theme 2.1 – Management of native forests, including secondary forests, forest restoration for the promotion of the bioeconomy
Sub-theme 2.2 – Forests planted with native and exotic species on the farm
Sub-theme 2.3 - Sustainable agriculture on farms
TOPIC 3 - Convergence of forestry and agricultural policies, bioeconomy and forestry
Sub-theme 3.1 – Integrated agricultural production systems, agroforestry systems and crop-livestock-forest integration
The purpose of IUFRO 2023 is to present and discuss different initiatives that aim to create more resilient future landscapes for the benefit of people and nature. The event takes place both in person (for 300 people) and Online, from 10/17 to 19/10 and offers guest presentations and volunteer work, panel discussions, as well as moments of networking and socialization among the participants in person.

The forest of the oldest shadows: the story of the petrified trees

The advance of deforestation on protected areas was once again evident this week in the Piñalito Sur Provincial Park, in San Pedro, where the Ministry of Ecology and Renewable Natural Resources confirmed a new case of selective illegal logging. The event occurs in a context of growing concern about the fragility of the environmental control system in rural and border areas, where the scarcity of resources, personnel and logistics limits the capacity of surveillance against criminal organizations organized to steal native woods and market them on the black market in connivance with sawmill owners.
