Javier Oberschelp; the Director of the Entre Ríos Regional Center of INTA, Ing. Gloria Perez; On behalf of AIANER, Ing. Paula Dacunda; the mayor of the city of Concordia, Dr. Enrique Cresto; the president of the Council of the Entre Ríos Regional Center of INTA, Ing. For her part, Eng. Perez highlighted that the Forestry Department for INTA Concordia and the Regional Center is strategic and emphasized the invaluable contribution of people who, with a long-term vision, left their mark, since "the institutions people do, they are the ones that give it value, with their work, with their dedication, with their effort.”

Conference themes

The first panel of the conference focused on fire management; The presentations referred to the rural fire management network, the strategies for fighting fires in the province of Corrientes and the information for the comprehensive management of fires.

Subsequently, a report was presented on the carbon survey in soils of productive systems in Argentina, with emphasis on Mesopotamia. Presentations continued on technological tools applied to forestry production, the potential benefits for the forestry business of biodiversity in planted forests in Mesopotamia and Delta, the potential of pure clones and hybrids of Eucalyptus for the production of charcoal, the certification of low carbon VSC standard in UNITAN forest plantations, and finally the evaluation of the economic and social impact of the pine and eucalyptus forestry chain from a market perspective.

During the break, it was possible to visit the posters presented and the commercial stands that accompanied the Conference. The moment also allowed the meeting and exchange between producers, advisors, service companies and students.

annual recognition

Continuing with the long tradition of the Forest Days of recognizing the work of the people who worked and work for the development of the activity, on this occasion the recognition was given to Ing. Agr. Juan Adolfo Lopez for his distinguished career and contributions to the forestry sector. Ing. Lopez began his activity at INTA Bella Vista and came to form an outstanding wood quality laboratory linked to the genetic improvement of forest species, and is still his main reference. His main technical contributions are linked to the incorporation of wood properties to tree selection programs by non-destructive methods.

In this area, the work of Ramón Eyman, assistant to the Forestry Department of INTA Concordia, was also recognized. of month

A special day to be in the field...

With a radiant sun in full spring day, the field day was held in three lots of the Agricultural Experimental Station selected for the presentations.

At the first stop, the issue of ant control with repellents and trap plants was addressed, a test that is carried out on the same property and is part of research at the country level. Then came the turn of cutting-edge technological tools for forestry application, where the multiple applications in the activity were explained. At the last stop, a talk on risk prevention in forestry was presented, followed by the presentation of the results of the evaluation network for pre-commercial clones and the determination of technological properties of commercial eucalyptus clones.

During the tours, it was possible to appreciate the different batches of tests found in the experimental plant and the importance of the research work carried out by local technicians.

The conference concluded with the traditional camaraderie lunch.
