A sustainable school

A sustainable school

Rural School N ° 927 is the new Sustainable Action project in the municipality of Oberá, which is seeking donations from companies in the construction market.

The organization "Sustainable Action" is, once again, working for the welfare and educational future of the little ones. In this case, Danilo Antoniazzi, president of the civil association, and Mirtha Abreu, director and teacher, carry out a project that involves the construction of Rural School No. 927, located in Yerbal Viejo, Municipality of Oberá, province of Misiones. The establishment is intended for the 250 students that make up the low-income student population and will be developed based on the principles of sustainable construction under the EDGE Building certification, becoming the first school with the American seal in the Argentine Republic.
The work is located on a 770 m2 site and will have 4 classrooms, a kitchen, a secretary's room, a teachers' room with a bathroom, a bathroom for children and a bathroom for the disabled, with a total constructed area of 668 m2. The architectural design includes a large sheet metal envelope that generates a continuous air flow in order to allow ventilation of the semi-covered space for the expansion of the classrooms and recreation for the students. It has a traditional construction system, a stalls made of reinforced concrete and exposed double-walled masonry and hollow brick, ceramic floors in classrooms, and smoothed concrete in both semi-covered and uncovered spaces. It also has aluminum metal carpentry with DVH, a metal structure of profiles for sheet metal roofing and a support structure for the solar hot water tank and photovoltaic panels.

“Our main objective is to create a quality habitat, where children can develop their cognitive skills in a healthy environment. Like all the projects that we carry out from our NGO, we are oriented towards the application of sustainable solutions in safeguarding the care of natural resources in order to equip opportunities for social development ”, commented Antoniazzi, who in 2011 made it possible, together with the collaboration Community Empathy, the inauguration of Rural School No. 888, in Paraje Zacarias, 50 km from the City of Oberá. According to data released by UNESCO, United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization, there are 124 million minors who do not have access to schooling in the early years and 250 million who cannot read or write, despite having attended the school.
For the beginning of the work, floors are needed for the classrooms, bathrooms, secretarial area, kitchen and meeting room for teachers, enclosures, paintings, electric hot water tank and solar hot water tank, lighting fixtures, coatings for the kitchen and bathrooms and a reserve tank for the water reservoir.

The advance of deforestation on protected areas was once again evident this week in the Piñalito Sur Provincial Park, in San Pedro, where the Ministry of Ecology and Renewable Natural Resources confirmed a new case of selective illegal logging.
