FIMMA Brasil history
In 1993, Bento Gonçalves, a Brazilian furniture manufacturer center, hosted the first International Fair of Machines, Raw Materials and Accessories for the Furniture Industry (FIMMA Brasil), chaired by Jorge Mattiello and devised by the Furniture Industry Association of Rio Grande do Sul State (Movergs), presided by Nelto Scarton. Undoubtedly, an initiative with a successful debut that brought together 236 exhibitors, 17,000 visitors and generated US$ 110 million in business.
Thanks to FIMMA Brasil, the distances between worldwide innovations and technologies in terms of machinery and raw materials and Brazilian entrepreneurs were drastically reduced. Since then, every two years, the Brazilian Capital of Wine also hosts one of the main fairs in the world for the furniture industry, becoming relevant and consolidated due to its reliability and tradition.
